Svetlana tells the true story of Svetlana Alliluyeva, daughter of Joseph Stalin, as she searches for family, love, and peace away from her father’s influence. In 1970 she defects from the Soviet Union to the US, and enjoys a moment of fame before, seeking something more, she is drawn to the artist commune of Frank Lloyd Wright in Scottsdale, Arizona. There she finds love, but is constantly at war with Olgivanna, Wright’s widow who rules the commune with an iron fist.
***Special 20-minute lecture by musicologist Dr Hannah McLaughlin “East to West in 1970s Pop Music” to precede performances on Wednesday the 25th and Thursday the 26th, starting at 7pm.***
Run time: 130 minutes including 10 minute intermission.
Recommended for ages 8 and up. No infants being held. All patrons require a ticket regardless of age.
